It’s a hustle and bustle on the biggest camel market in Egypt. Wholesalers are buying flocks and negotiating loud for the prices. Camels of all kinds are pushing over; young ones, old ones, white and dark brown ones..
By country road dates palms plantations are spreading. In spring blossoms are gently waving in the wind and in autumn branches are bending under the weight of red and yellow dates. There are up to 100kg of them on one tree.
There is an amateur private zoo on our way with African animals like lions, cobras, hyaenas, hawks, parrots and monkeys.
At last we will stop in a local restaurant for their speciality. We will be served with camel livers for lunch.
