In new modern building are exhibited the oldest artistic products from before dynasty times till the time of islamic culture. Statues, gods and thrones are filling museum halls, except in the hall of mummies. Here are resting old pharaohs of ancient Egypt, covered with blanket till neck.
Around there is full of pottery shops where you can easily find a sphinx for your garden.
City of the dead is the oldest islamic graveyard, full of richly decorated tombs of rulers, saints and wealthy merchants.
On the edge of the city mountain ridge called Mokattam is rising towards the sky. It is full of caves and quarries and the oldest were owned by ancient pharaohs. We will drive through the city of trash, Coptic city of the poorest, who are making a living with recycling garbages. Just under the top of the mountain there is a church in mighty cave. St. Simon church has 5000 sits and guarded with quintuple and septuple crosses.
If you are feeling adventurous there is an adrenaline park just next to the church.
We’ll call it a day in famous restaurant El Prince where the tables in the middle of the road are mixing with honking cars. We will be served with rare specialities like camel liver and ox tail.
